Platinum Scraps was originally launched February of 2010 as a vision of several friends who met on the Cricut Message board who wanted to venture out into creating, sharing, and showcasing the many talents each of us possess. Platinum Scraps showcases the diversity in scrapbooking and features designers from all walks of life. To keep the tradition going, each week our design team is challenged to create a unique layout or card based on a sketch that exemplifies their skills and talents. We hope that we inspire your creations and we appreciate your continued love and support as we grow together.

Week in Review

Today's blog update is late due to weather we are having here in Louisiana.  We were in a severe drought this summer and now we are in a state of severe flooding.  Bad weather rendered us powerless therefore I wasn't able to upload the projects.

I am trying to use up all of my Echo Park paper from my first layout and I swear every time I use a piece another grows in its place, lol. Anyway I saw this great tutorial that I wanted to share using a corner punch on small squares on Simon Says blog and decided to give it a try. I like the effect and you can arrange them so many different ways, I will definitely try it again.

It's a Lovely Day

Hi There Scrappers!

Thank you Pagemaps for such a wonderful sketch! The fun part about using a sketch to me is making it my own. In this case I loved the doily accent and the photo layout and could instantly visualize the perfect picture for my layout. I also knew that I wanted the colors to be fun and vibrant just like the colors in the photo of my daughter on a beautiful summer day a few years ago. You can view the original sketch here.

Everything Is Better

This weeks sketch really helped me pull out some things I have been hoarding.  I really had fun working on this card.  I would like to admit that for card sketches I have a problem following the rules and I might get a bit off.  But this one I followed to a "T" as I am known to do.
Let me share a little about the ingredients of this card.   I used Fancy Pants -Its the Little Things collection again the papers &  their cute chipboard  bird in a cage.  For my sentiment I used these great stamps by Hero Arts that were a gift from fellow Platinum Scraps member Papercrafting Princess!  I also love using my Big Kick and the Spellbinders lacey circles, a little bit of Bazzill In Stitchz thread and it all pulled together quite well don't ya think?

NY Vacation

Here's a little scrap challenge hailing from Boston.

I really enjoyed working with this weeks featured sketch.  From the moment I saw it I had one of my quirky visions for the layout.  I usually interpret a sketch pretty literally as you can see.

I love butterflies and one of my favorite collections last year was Fancy Pants- It's The Little Things collection and I had just enough left over to use.  I pulled out some stamps, my embossing gun as well as punches from EK Success, Martha & Fiskars.  Here I am exploring every bit of NYC during a visit me and some of my scrapping sisters planned.  Thanks for stopping by!

Animal Kingdom

As a part of our new format, we are showcasing each designers projects on different days.  At the end of the postings, all projects will be featured.  I design all two page layouts, therefore it is hard for me to just showcase the one page.  I will try to stick to the guidelines set forth by the team, lol.

Please forgive me for not posting my project at 8:00 am this morning.  We had trouble with our internet and it just came back online.  I don't know how to upload at all from the iphone or ipad so they were useless to me.

Visit my personal blog later this week to see the layout with both pages and photos.

This week's sketch comes from http://www.pagemaps.com/
