Platinum Scraps was originally launched February of 2010 as a vision of several friends who met on the Cricut Message board who wanted to venture out into creating, sharing, and showcasing the many talents each of us possess. Platinum Scraps showcases the diversity in scrapbooking and features designers from all walks of life. To keep the tradition going, each week our design team is challenged to create a unique layout or card based on a sketch that exemplifies their skills and talents. We hope that we inspire your creations and we appreciate your continued love and support as we grow together.

Time Out Thursday: Sesame Street Shirts

This week’s Time Out Thursday is by Truthfully98. Here are some more heat transfer vinyl shirts. Check out this previous post for instructions on how to make these shirts. Heat Transfer Vinyl Shirts
They are really easy to make and produce professional looking results.

Tips for Heat Transfer Vinyl:

• You must remember to flip your image on the Cricut before you cut. Especially fonts.

• Make sure you use the right type of vinyl for your material. There are different types of vinyl that adhere better to cotton, polyester, leather, nylon, etc.

• Some vinyl, such as the flocked vinyl, may need to be taped to your mat in order to cut it.

• Pre-heat your shirt by ironing it before you apply the vinyl.

• Make sure to follow the instructions that come with the vinyl closely. There is a clear film that must be pulled off the image once it is ironed on. This can be peeled hot or cold depending on the type of vinyl you use.

• Make sure your image is sticking to the shirt before you completely pull off the clear film. If the vinyl is stuck to the film you need to iron over your image more. You may need more heat or more pressure.

• Have fun and create unique items with this great product.

Time Out Thursday: Craft-Tastic Tips

Sharing tips and tricks is like sharing gold among crafters.  This week's Time Out Thursday will bring you a few pieces of gold, courtesy of Craftin' Curt.  Some of his tips come from trial and error, while others come from simple experimentation; all of them, however, truly are craft-tastic!
