Platinum Scraps was originally launched February of 2010 as a vision of several friends who met on the Cricut Message board who wanted to venture out into creating, sharing, and showcasing the many talents each of us possess. Platinum Scraps showcases the diversity in scrapbooking and features designers from all walks of life. To keep the tradition going, each week our design team is challenged to create a unique layout or card based on a sketch that exemplifies their skills and talents. We hope that we inspire your creations and we appreciate your continued love and support as we grow together.
Today's blog update is late due to weather we are having here in Louisiana. We were in a severe drought this summer and now we are in a state of severe flooding. Bad weather rendered us powerless therefore I wasn't able to upload the projects.
Today we feature a card by designer phillyscraps. You can click on her name to view more of her creations on her personal blog.
I am trying to use up all of my Echo Park paper from my first layout and I swear every time I use a piece another grows in its place, lol. Anyway I saw this great tutorial that I wanted to share using a corner punch on small squares on Simon Says blog and decided to give it a try. I like the effect and you can arrange them so many different ways, I will definitely try it again.
This week our designers are working with a sketch from pagemaps.com. The designers did not have to have a specific theme for this card sketch.
Our first designer featured this week is Jojorenee. You may click on her name in the post to visit her personal blog and enjoy more of her beautiful creations.
Please come back each day to view another designers take. Thanks for being loyal followers. We are always wondering what our followers create from the sketches we select. We will add a linky tool for you to link your projects in the near future. We can't wait to see your creations.
Since I begged for a Cricut Expression I really try to use it to the max. I cut out all of the
rectangles and the character Michelle using the Cricut. Challenge yourself to use yours more the creation
The Ears layout features photos from my first visit to Disney World. I was so excited to go. I had never been and was fortunate enough to chaperone my high school alma mater's band. Boy did I have a blast.
Thank you Pagemaps for such a wonderful sketch! The fun part about using a sketch to me is making it my own. In this case I loved the doily accent and the photo layout and could instantly visualize the perfect picture for my layout. I also knew that I wanted the colors to be fun and vibrant just like the colors in the photo of my daughter on a beautiful summer day a few years ago. You can view the original sketch here.

This week our designers were challenged to create a one page layout from a sketch found over at pagemaps.com. I am super excited that our creative juices are flowing again. Below you can view the sketch and see our first designers take on the sketch.
Today's sketch came from Leialoha. This week she has scrapped a layout of her granddaughter. I love the outfit.
The products used to create this layout came from the following companies:
Paper: Paper Studio - Ooh La La
Making Memories - alphabet rub-on
Tim Holtz Grungeboard Number and Distress Stain
Hampton Art Spritz Board - Scallop (cut in half)
Please come back tommorrow to see another beautiful creation by our design team.
This weeks sketch really helped me pull out some things I have been hoarding. I really had fun working on this card. I would like to admit that for card sketches I have a problem following the rules and I might get a bit off. But this one I followed to a "T" as I am known to do.
Let me share a little about the ingredients of this card. I used Fancy Pants -Its the Little Things collection again the papers & their cute chipboard bird in a cage. For my sentiment I used these great stamps by Hero Arts that were a gift from fellow Platinum Scraps member Papercrafting Princess! I also love using my Big Kick and the Spellbinders lacey circles, a little bit of Bazzill In Stitchz thread and it all pulled together quite well don't ya think?
This week our designers were inspired to create cards from sketch selected from pagemaps.com As stated last week, each designer's project will be showcased daily allowing them to give more indepth detail about their project.
Our first designer to be showcased this week is Curt. Curt's card was one featured in 25 days of cards back in December. Thanks Curt for being apart of the team and may you continue to stretch your creative talent this year. To see more of Curt's projects, please visit Craftin Curt and be sure to leave him some blog love. Curt used the Jolly Holiday's Cart to complete his project.
Here's a little scrap challenge hailing from Boston.
I really enjoyed working with this weeks featured sketch. From the moment I saw it I had one of my quirky visions for the layout. I usually interpret a sketch pretty literally as you can see.
I love butterflies and one of my favorite collections last year was Fancy Pants- It's The Little Things collection and I had just enough left over to use. I pulled out some stamps, my embossing gun as well as punches from EK Success, Martha & Fiskars. Here I am exploring every bit of NYC during a visit me and some of my scrapping sisters planned. Thanks for stopping by!
As a part of our new format, we are showcasing each designers projects on different days. At the end of the postings, all projects will be featured. I design all two page layouts, therefore it is hard for me to just showcase the one page. I will try to stick to the guidelines set forth by the team, lol.
Please forgive me for not posting my project at 8:00 am this morning. We had trouble with our internet and it just came back online. I don't know how to upload at all from the iphone or ipad so they were useless to me.
Visit my personal blog later this week to see the layout with both pages and photos.
As a part of the new format, we will feature each designers take on the sketch daily with a full reveal at the end of the week. Today we are featuring one of our new design team members Tamika aka Phillyscraps. You will be able to learn more about our entire team very soon but in the meantime we hope that you are inspired.
That Platinum Scraps is back! As promised the design team is back to share our passion for crafting and to inspire you. Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we release the design team's projects and add new features to the blog. You can look forward to seeing projects from your favorite Platinum Scraps designers, meeting our new designers and participating in some Platinum fun events. For our kick-off this week the designers worked on this Page Maps sketch by the amazing Becky Fleck.
