Bo Bunny Gypsy Paper...Card Challenge

For the remainder of January, we have decided to shine a spotlight on Bo Bunny's Gypsy Collection.  Our assignment this week is to create a card.  No sketch involved.  It is all about your style, your way.  The only must have, is paper from the Gypsy Collection.  Leave a comment below and let us know what you think.  Do you have this paper at home? Scraplifting

SCRAPLIFTING.  When I first started scrapping and I heard this term I immediately thought it was a negative thing. How is it OK for someone to steal your ideas? Of course I was educated that it is not only OK, but often encouraged. Immitation is the best form of flattery. Why not "lift" my card or layout? If others think my work is so amazing that they want to duplicate it, I find that great....I even blush at the thought. Crafters everywhere often lift ideas from others that it is often hard to determine where the original idea came from. The main rule of scraplifting is that you do not take credit for the idea. As long as you are not publishing your work as your own, its OK. So I decided to scraplift. Oh, I have done it many times in the past but I wanted to make a few cards that show different levels of lifting. I used the latest issue of Cards Magazine to do my crime.

When I saw this card I really liked the tag with the sentiment.  It inspired me to make my card. As you can see my card and the lifted card are not similiar at all. The only thing I took from this card is the tag.

Now this card I lifted completly. I had some foam thickers laying around and when I saw this card I had to try to follow it as much as possible. I would have even rounded my corners had I not stuck the thickers on first.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year fellow crafters.  Welcome to 2011!  We hope everyone had a Scraptastic 2010.  The Platinum Scraps Designers look forward to sharing more Layouts, Cards, Altered Items, Recipes and more with you, this year.  And just the same, we want to see what you create using the sketches we post.

2011 Desk Calendars

Our very own Leialoha designed these calendars for friends during the holidays.  They are absolutely beautiful. She has included a supply list, tool list, and step by step instructions.

Leialoha created pdf files for the calendars.  Just click on the link below, it takes you to the scribd account.  Once there click download.  A regular pdf comes up and allows you to print the calendars. 

Jan - April Calendars

Supplies Needed:
(1) 12X12 heavy duty chip board
(2) 12X12 pieces of printed paper (cardstock weight is better)
24" piece of ribbon (you can use more than one piece)
(4) eyelets
(1) large brad
(1) Tom Holtz - swivel clasps (optional) this is what I use to hold the charm
(1 or 2) charms (I used Making Memories embossed charm or charms from the hand made jewerly section in Michaels)

Tools:
heavy duty paper cutter (for chip board)
paper trimmer
Crop-a-dile
Crop-a-dile (big bite)
Crop-a-dile corner chomper or BIA corner punch (anything that you can use on the heavy duty chip board
Chestnut Chalk (color is optional)
Adhesive


Instructions:
1.  Cut - chip board and PP (6 1/2 X 4 1/2)
2.  Glue paper on the front and back of each piece of chip board
3.  Round the corners with the corner punch
4.  Chalk all sides
5.  Using the crop-a-dile punch a whole on each side
6.  Punch holes 1" from the top and 1" from the sides
7.  Fasten your eyelets in the holes
8.  Using the crop-a-dile big bite, punch a whole on the front board "only"
      punch the hole in the middle about 2" from the top
9.  Using your ribbon tie the two covered chip boards together
      leaving a little room for it to open and sit upright
10. Put the clasp on the ribbon on any corner and let it hang
       add the charm to the bottom of the clasp
11.  Add your calendar with your large brad to the hole you punched in the middle of the chip board
12.  Cut your calendars at 4 1/2 X 4

Holiday Cheer

We, the designers at Platinum Scraps would like to wish all of you a Happy Holiday Season! As we celebrate the holidays we will not post a new challenge for this week. However, we won't leave you empty handed! Here is a simple holiday layout designed by SanuraScraps. It was inspired by "thoughts of many white Christmas's" while growing up. Enjoy!

December Layout Challenge Week 1 "Three B's"

Happy December! We at Platinum Scraps would like to say a warm hello to Myra Mierria, our guest designer for December! HI Myra!!!

Myra lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her family and is a working mom and business owner.  She’s been scrapbooking and paper crafting since 2004 and enjoys learning new techniques and sharing her creations with her family and friends. For two years, she taught and designed for a local scrapbook store until it closed in August of this year.  She also designs for her favorite challenge blog, Glue, Scissors, Paper, which is on an indefinite hiatus.  She uses some of her precious vacation time to travel to paper arts events around the country.  A long time fan of Platinum Scraps and its awe inspiring creations, Myra is honored to be this month’s guest designer!

The first challenge for this month was a recipe. Each designer had free reign to create any type of project but whatever the project, it had to follow the recipe.
